Summer is winding down, and while a lot has changed since early spring, getting out of the house safely remains tricky. We recently showed you some places to responsibly get out and on the water around Dallas-Fort Worth for a day of fun and sun.

Getaway
Larue, Texas, address is given upon booking. About an hour and a half from Dallas.
At only 140 to 200 square feet and with no Wi-Fi and limited cell service, Getaway cabins offer “a break from the city, technology and work.” Getaway outposts are about an hour‘s drive from 11 metro areas around the U.S. For Dallas, the closest is in the East Texas town of Larue, 35 minutes from Cedar Creek Lake and Lake Palestine. It’s also 40 minutes from Big Thicket National Preserve’s Beaver Slide Trail and the Wolfpen Hike and Bike Trail at Purtis Creek State Park.
The 40 cabins have one or two beds and can accommodate two to four people. Each tiny cabin includes a queen bed (with a second, lofted bed in each of the larger cabins), a cellphone lockbox, toiletries and kitchen staples (some provisions are also for sale), as well as a picnic and campfire area. Cedarvale Mountainside Cabins
4530 U.S. 77 S., Davis, Okla. Just over an hour from Dallas.
Just a short drive from Turner Falls Park, Cedarvale Mountainside Cabins’ 19 units offer an opportunity to explore the Arbuckle Mountains and see Oklahoma’s tallest waterfall, the 77-foot Turner Falls.

Paluxy River Bed Cabins
1319 FM205, Glen Rose. About an hour and a half from Dallas.
Less than 10 minutes from Dinosaur Valley State Park, Paluxy River Bed Cabins offer a tech-free stay with “no stress, no telephone, no television, no interruptions, no problem.” Three of the four cabins have access to the river. Each of the cabins sports a private deck and hot tub, and every stay includes a continental breakfast. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is also a short drive away.

River of Love Cabins
Cabin staff will text renters with a Google Maps pin to lead them to the cabins near Thackerville, Okla. About an hour from Dallas.
Escape the hustle and bustle of the city at River of Love Cabins. Geared toward partners looking for a romantic getaway, the cabins are about a mile from the Red River, 20 minutes from Lake Murray State Park and a half-hour from Lake Texoma State Park. Additionally, WinStar World Casino is just a short drive away. Though there’s no internet or cable TV access, each cabin is equipped with a TV and movies, a radio with a CD player and a hot tub.

Rocky Point Cabins
3631 Rocky Point Drive, Sulphur, Okla. About 2 1/2 hours from Dallas.
Rocky Point Cabins are near the Chickasaw National Recreation Area and Lake of the Arbuckles. Visitors can explore the Oklahoma wilderness, and both the Chickasaw Cultural Center and Turner Falls Park are less than 30 minutes away.

Another destination near both Dinosaur Valley State Park and the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, Anderson Creek Cabins feature 15 scenic acres to hike and explore, as well as a natural 25-foot seasonal waterfall. Located along the Paluxy River, the cabins are just across the creek from Raindrop Spa, where visitors can get a one-hour essential oil treatment.
